The new puppy annex

All is well with the grapes this week...they are now 8+weeks old. Hard to believe! They have cousins visiting. Their Aunt CeCe and her kids are here while their mom (Pat) is in California showing another Aunt. It is lots of fun, since the cousins are a couple of weeks younger. I hadn't realized, there are 10 dog bodies here. Kona thinks it is pretty silly and is staying clear of all the estrogen! I whispered that there is earthdog coming up in a couple of weeks. That made him feel a little better.

Everyone is growing and learning at an astounding rate. Lots of time outside running and romping. Time in individual crates for meals. Indivual excursions and one on one time. The best news is that they all prefer to potty outside! I love puppy litter pans, such an easy transition!

We did puppy evaluations on Monday. Thanks to Portland area breeders Barb McNamee and Vicki Havlik. Very promising futures for the grapes seem to be on the horizon. We also had a structural evaluation done by Pat Hastings. Wow! What an educational hour. Well worth the time and money. A very good bit of information regarding this litter and future breeding plans.

Puppy antics!

One picture is worth a thousand words...with these I have written an entire article!

More puppy stuff

The grapes are 7 weeks old now. I took this picture today when Kevin was home to grab them and help me out. I have no idea how Cindy takes pictures of four at once all by herself! They are left to right: Merl, Cali, Zin and Bug (Meritage). I think we need to find out what their call names are to be and start using them.

Jim Read

Many of you know Jim Read as a wonderful obedience teacher and judge,
He is the Judge who kindly encouraged Betsy and Happy and Zoe and me
to enroll in Obedience Classes after our amazing debut at The CRCTC Fun Match in March of 2007.
Last Saturday Jim had emergency surgery for an embolism in his leg.
He will be in Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital for another week.
Please think good thoughts for Jim.

NEW CANADIAN CHAMPION!!!!

CONGRTULATIONS TO AM/CA CH CAIRNGORM BOX OF RAIN. Lovingly known as Hunter. Living with Dena, Bill, Sheridan, Tootsie and Alex. Last week a few of us (Val, Dena, Pat, Kula, Kona, Hattie and the grapes, Hunter, Rags, CeCe and Wallace and Grommit, all in the motor home (Speedracer)...Stiller stayed back with Greg) to Canada in the hopes of bringing home some prefixes, and we did!!! In addition, Rags (another Cairngorm puppy from Gema) earned 8 points and Kona (half brother to both) earned a point to give him a total of 5! It was a good week. The grapes were great travelers and CeCe had her baby boys along too. Great fun and another great experience for NW Paws!

Landau/Harley and Obi go home

Mary's Star Wars boys have all gone to forever homes.
As posted earlier, Jar Jar is in Montana.
Landau, now Harley, has joined his big sister Hannah and Obi Wan has joined big sister Maisie.
Both are living in Portland, so we expect many visits.

Why We Have Cairn Rescue...

Meet Sycamore! He came to CRCTC Rescue when his family relocated to Portland. While they they are looking for a pet friendly rental, Sycamore, age 13, is staying with Zoe and her family. Today Sycamore received a Make Over from Vicki...what a handsome fellow !
In case you are confused, the pictures should be in the other order...Love, Nanny

Honorary Paws member - Sycamore's make-over

When a family came from Florida with two large dogs, a cat and a Cairn, Cindi so graciously offered to 'foster' Sycamore until they could find a place. Although he is from Missouri and a black and tan at that, he is the sweetest 22 lbs of Cairn. He loves the toys and came over and took them all out of the basket and all over the floor. Yes, he loves Mary's .bird and Mary is kind enough to share. Cindi tells me he loves to chase the ball for hours on end and it is hard to realize that he is 13 yrs old.
Today he came for a make-over and after having a bit of trouble with the clippers, he was done.
I think he is feeling much better

Bag Babies Again

Remember the baskets of Star Wars Pups and Grapes?
Here are the Star Wars Babies before all but Padme left for forever homes, stuffed in the Bag that Mother Mary won in Pennsylvania last fall.
Jar Jar does not look amused.
Oh my, I just realized that I posted the Bag Babies in a past post...oh well, they are so adorable, who can complain?
