Successful Earthdog Weekend for Columbia River CTC

Columbia River Cairn Terrier Club just hosted their first ED tests this weekend. It was a great success! There were over 60 entries both Saturday and Sunday!
Guess who the very first title was awarded to??? First hint...no new Master or Senior titles....
SULLY.... New JE!!! There was a wonderful bucket with a plaque stating his new status. Today he came sooooooo close to his first Senior leg, but handler error (I HATE those) proved his undoing. That is okay, we will do it next time!
Happy (Betsy's cute boy) earned his first Senior leg. Lots of improvements made...

It was a good weekend with good people and only a couple of minor flaws..looking forward to doing it again and ironing those out!!

Yesterday evening was spent with Greg, Dena and Bill doing a bit of improv on the strings. Relaxing and quite fun!

Junior Earthdog leg for Sully!

We have a good friend who is a long time Earthdog judge who claims that 5 dogs out of 100 (or is it 200?) are pure naturals. If this dog isn't, I don't know what else might be required to be a "pure natural". Today was Sully's very first earthdog test. He wnt into the tunnel and to the rats in 18 seconds. Began work in 1 second and was still working when I opened the lid and lifted him out. The lids of both the rat cage side and the dog side were bouncing and he was barking and digging the entire time. I have never seen an inexperienced Cairn go to it like that. This dog is gonna be fun! Thanks again to Carol Onstad of Scotch Broom Cairns for letting Vicki and I have him, and thanks to Vicki for letting him live with me!
